>>48751343> turn based JRPG can't demand the player actually become more physically skilled, but it can ask for the player to reconsider their strategy and come up with something new to winYou're completely correct anon. And if I had to change a mon or two like I did for Ericka or first Giovanni it's nbd I didn't really mind that (the Meganium type and ability change was bogus though). But needing to rebuild an entire team because my strategy counts on me being able to use at least four of my six mons and I can't because out of nowhere I'm forced to cut my team in half that's just not a fair experience. You really can't change my mind on that. Like I've said, if they called me at 54 or 55 instead of 57 and then cut the megas out but kept all the strategies the same the fight would still be a great challenge but not broken. It's balance. Maybe that fight would be a but easier, but look my team would then be fucked against Sabrina because it turns my entire strategy against me. For that battle I really would have to rebuild my team but not because of some gimmick I can't access and severe limitations but because that team is a natural weakness to mine. THATS a real challenge, and a real reason to be able to accept the rebuild. It's a challenge I could maybe even potentially over come even with that team. It's not about the struggle that's not the problem, it's how much the AI gets over me that makes the struggle difficult to accept.
You can doubt it if you'd like, but there really are more complaints than not about that fight. Considering the levels and bst of the mons used, here's a team I built for my "elite four" that I considered to be on the more challenging side. But the game I've been working on, it's primary battle mode is set doubles. They use everything the player has access to and have two intentional weaknesses built into it. It gets one pseudo and only because it's an "E4" team. No huge advantage over the player like megas inaccessible to the player.
