Tobias was basically the writer's way of saying "fuck, we made Ash too competent, so we have to put a stop to him", and even then, out of everyone in the region Ash still managed to trump two of Tobias's Pokemon, the second of which no one has really seen. At least Tobias is cool, even if they didn't explain him.
But Cameron? That fuck. He didn't deserve his Humilau Gym Badge, he didn't deserve to even place as far as he did in the Unova League, and he did NOT deserve to defeat Ash. At the very least, Ash should have won and then lost to Virgil so he could have another tournament where he places in the semifinals, leading to him actually placing in the finals for the Kalos league or even WINNING it. Cameron was one of the worst pieces of trash that the already fairly mediocre BW series had to offer.
