All of those horrible scenarios he's been recently depicted in... none of the Pokémon that have assailed him belong to him. They aren't affiliated with Orzabal or Curtonix, either. If anything, they're a reminder as to why Murdoch and the rest of M.A.S.S. came to exist in the first place. This monstrous abuse of human dignity is why they and the Pokémon in The Homeland simply cannot peacefully coexist.
The two originally discovered him when they rescued him from
[REDACTED]. When they got up close to him, their Psychic capabilities allowed them to discover a strange anomaly in his brain, which is the point where they initially kidnapped him in the first place. After a lengthy process of interrogating him and probing his brain in various ways, they discovered that psionic energy could be channeled into his brain easily. After that, they also found that the energy could be released from his mind in a multitude of ways, making energy-based attacks and mind-altering abilities increase in effectiveness to a massive degree. They did learn that it was somehow tied to something that had happened to him at some point in the past, but not even Curtonix could pinpoint what the exact cause of this was, even with his powerful mastery over memories. This was the foundation of where their takeover of his life from that point forward began its foothold.
