Theres two different kinds of breeding, regular shit out an egg and call it a day, or fusion. Right now what we know is pretty basic, but its only on the genes we could play around with in the kickstarter demo. Parent A decides the form, while Parent B passes on its typing and color.
Sometime later in the game you'll be able to create your own gene where Parent A could decide everything but stats, or it could all be the same but you keep the original palette, I really wish I had more information for you guys.
What I can tell you is that the other breeding method, fusion, can create completely new monsters. So there are some monster combinations out there that will create something brand spanking new, or extinct.
