Like, in their old branding guide they make claims like 'Pokemon are not data' which people take as literal gospel, but then that invalidates existing game concepts like Porygon. It technically is a quote from the direct source but people ignore the context it was stated, where it was intended to simplify the concept for merchandising and easier use of the brand, and view it as canon 'lore'. There's a lot of concepts of the franchise people demand follow a strict definition be followed when one simply doesn't exist in the capacity they demand.
