/vp/ is about Pokémon, a more 'specialized' theme than most boards has, the result is that most poke-fans can participate in most topics of the threads here, rather than finding only a few threads per day about some tv-show/book/news story/game/whatever you're interested in.
Another thing is that we have a butt-load of different reactionpics, many of which are also used outside our board
