Post Piers update:
Hop's battle wasn't as hard as the previous one, but the lack of fighting Pokemon encounters is felt. I am lucky to have some bulky Pokemon like Dugtrio and Gigalith, but they don't his as hard as I want them to, since Hop's normal types are on the bulky side themselves. If I still had Bewear, I know this batlle would've been much shorter. The battle also gave us two evolutions - Grimmsnarl and Glalie whoch, I believe, will be useful in the future.
Marnie battle: Decided to take eevee with me and try to evolve her into Espeon for the sake of taking down Toxicroak. She didn't evolve and I didn't want to over level her, so I decided to keep her on the team for now. Grimmsnarl and Dugtrio pretty much destroyed her team with no casualties on my side.
VS Piers: Scrafty was OHKO-d by Grimmsnarl, who later, unfortuanatly was killed by Obstagoon's counter. WHich is a shame, because he was such an MVP until this gym. I sent out Ninjask, hoping it will be fast and strong enough to finish the Obstagoon, but two throat chops destroyed my bug. Salazzle's Flamethrower burned whatever was left of the Obstagoon's HP, but was killed by Malamar's Psycho Cut after taking a big chunk of it's HP. Rillaboom finished the Malamar and Dugtrio, after almost managing to kill the Skuntank, died from the Skunk's sucker punch. I sent out Manectric, who finished the Skuntank and earning us the badge.
I am surprised that a rather easy gym battle, in my opinion, ended up wiping some of the team's better Pokemon. I don't believe I could've done anything else/better without over leveling the team, but now I'll have to find a wat to cover for the losses. Might go to the IoA and CT to get some backup mons for the league, but I will decide if to do so after Raihan's gym.
