Not only did Game Freak neuter the role playing elements (you know, abilities), but they made the battle system worse and apologized by making battling practically nonexistent. Instead, they made the game a catching simulator in an empty, hideous world with shit music. The only redeeming quality PLA has is that not all of the new Pokemon are terrible, just Enamorus and the alt forms of Dialga and Palkia, but that's not enough to make up for the rest of the shit game.
That it is at all praised is an indictment of the Pokemon fanbase even more damning than Sword and Shield's sale numbers.
