We never could have known the series would fall so far from grace. Nothing could POSSIBLY be worse than XY, right?
It's sad that many people honestly believe anything that came after is better because of this mindset. We'd have done anything to get out of Gen 6 just like we would have to get out of Gen 7, and look how it turned out. Railroading ablaze and gimmicks-aplenty.
Gen 6 is really going to be the last of old-style Pokemon gameplay, isn't it? The closest we've gotten since was LGPE and with how stripped down it is I don't even consider it mainline.
