The dlc is slightly more fun but since anons aren't playing anymore raids and dynamax adventures are meh now, i'd recommend you to just play it to catch the gen 8 pokemon and see if you like some of them, maybe someday you'll get to take your favorite gen 8 pokemon to gen 9 and have a better adventure there
