It's a lot more fun without Smogon rules. I don't think Pokémon was really designed to be hyper-competitive. Playing with friends and even tournament opponents was, in my opinion, designed to be fun first. If you're not having fun, there's really no point playing anymore.
I've been playing consistently since RBY came out, and playing competitively since Gen IV. The more I play, the more I'm convinced that the whole point of Pokémon is to bring people together and ensure that everyone has a good time. Niggas gotta take a chill pill and stop to smell the roses.
