Onix. Giant rock snake, hits literally as hard as Wurmple. Why is Onix so weak? I get that it's supposed to be "the first boss" but even then, it was only ever hard due to lack of availability. In any other situation, Onix is just plain pathetic. So, I have a simple solution:
Increase every one of Onix's base stats besides Defense by 25. This makes Onix's bast stats: 60/70/160/55/70/95.
This accomplishes a few things:
1) Onix will be much more usable, especially with Eviolite. Compared to Steelix, it will have higher Speed, higher defenses with Eviolite, and Rock typing. But Steelix will still have higher Attack and HP, the ability to hold an item, Steel typing, and a Mega Evolution.
2) Onix's Metal Coat counterpart, Scyther, shares a BST with Scizor at 500. Increasing Onix's stats this way makes it share a BST with Steelix, at 510.
3) Makes it a more formidable boss, without being too much. Onix was outspeeding you anyway, and relying on Tackle and Bide.
