>>36309692>It's supposed to show Venusaur in Gen2, Gen5, Gen6 and Gen7. Smogon wasn't around Gen2.But sim/smogon GSC is how most GSC is played nowadays. And 6v6 has always been a thing despite whatever dumbass rules Nintendo decided to run at the time. And the meta's changed since 2000. Might as well discredit Growth Vap as part of GSC because Ruby/Sapphire were already out by the time it hit its stride. Or discredit Meta Knight and Ice Climbers in Brawl because they weren't popular until much later in the game's life compared to Snake/Wario/DeDeDe.
I also question how accurate that placement is, considering I can't find any other tier list for the format to compare it to. Venu has shit matchups against every Pokemon in A+ with the exception of Golem and Steelix, and the partial exception of Raikou/TTar. In fact I'd wager the only reason it's that high at all is that this format is 3v3 and Sleep Powder would be really strong, except even though Venusaur has decent stats it's just worse in almost every way compared to Exeggutor. The site has a defensive set for Venusaur with Sleep Powder and Reflect, but the set doesn't stop anything S- or higher on that same tier list except maybe Tauros and Raikou. If I understand the translation properly they also say it's a counter to Machamp and thus goes well with Snorlax, but Machamp isn't high on the list and there are plenty of other Machamp counters to choose from.
>>Meganium is a better VenusaurIt has a ton of utility options and hard stops Marowak. Venusaur gets Sleep Powder but has a way worse typing for GSC, notably being neutral to EQ instead of resisting it.
>official Nintendo tournamentWho fucking cares it's a dead and arbitrary format. The fact that there aren't even any English tier lists for you to use for your meme image should give you an idea of just how irrelevant the format is.
