If you're in Great league and are a competent player, don't worry about teamcomp. Just pick Greninja and carry the fuck out of your team. I used to worry about the same things until i realized everyone in Great is just a bunch of shitters, so i just rode the Gren Train to Ultra

Have never been incredibly fond of starters. Many times i end up boxing them and using other regional pokemon instead. As a matter of fact, the only starters that i feel would actually land in the Top 10 of their respective Gen are Marshtomp, Torterra, Empoleon and Greninja. Torterra is in my Top 5 of all time and Greninja in my Top 10.
