The towns are small and bland, it has the shittiest routes in the series, and overall everything about the mapping sucks ass.
You'd need to make liberal changes and expansions to a lot of to make it look not ass.
Not to mention it'd be on the NX, which is HD since the 3DS is in its final throws.
Making such a small and empty map in HD would be disgusting.
Significant changes could push away the genwunners that want it too.
