>>38164456Picking back up from where I left off, was surprised when Golbat actually evolved - I had sworn that it tried earlier in my run but then stopped, I assumed because I didn't have the full Dex unlocked so not sure what changed. Charmeleon and Clefairy also evolved, (had an unused Moon Stone thankfully) and used both routes to Fuschia for grinding. At first my trip through the Safari Zone was disappointing as my encounters for the first three zones kept running, but then I fished up a Dratini in the last area and made the catch! So after some more grinding felt like tackling the gym. Knew it wasn't going to be easy - didn't really have any kind of type advantage so I made do with a lot of shifting in and out between fights. I had thought Koga was likely to give me a hard time, and unfortunately I was right, just not how I was expecting. Thought Nidoking was bulky enough against most of his team and had poison immunity so we'd be fine. But we weren't - first Koffing gets knocked up just a bit blows up in our faces and I'm out my Warrior. So for rest of the match I relied on mainly Charizard to hit hard while swapping him out for Crobat to set up Confuse Ray and give him time to heal. That's another badge down.
Just one of these days I'd like to get through a game with Nidoking alive.
