>>54602267>its too accessible and contributes to people who only play the game for competitive and not the game aspect. Anon, I've been playing since 1998, and I can assure you that the competitive scene has been a huge part of the game since the beginning. Nintendo even hosted events to celebrate the battling side of things. I won a bunch of official Nintendo Pokemon medals back in 1999 by competing in tournaments. Why you have a problem with the competitive scene is beyond me, but it's always been an integral part of the game. If you deny that, then you don't know as much about the franchise or its history as you think.
>Second would be that the game component is lost as a result. That's pretty retarded, since the actual game has always been about battling and trading monsters. Again, it's an integral part of the franchise and it literally always has been.
>Competitive pokemon now has people that literally only play showdown and only showdown and buy the games purely to compete not actually play them. It is very sad to think that pokemon needs to lose the things that make it into a monster raising game to appeal to this sort of people. So because some people don't play the game the way YOU think they should play the game, they're doing it wrong. What a retarded take...
>I do not think everything SV added to trivialize making competitive pokemon is a bad thing but I do think some went way to far. How? Are you upset the game isn't a bike riding Sim that cab take literal days if you want to build up a few competitive teams? Why? None of your arguments make any sense. You're trying to gatekeep an aspect of the game that's always been a core part of the experience.
