>>45244994The polycount for those models are way, way, way too high for handhelds. Especially ones that run in sub-HD resolutions. Those models were literally made for the jump to HD, and the fact that again they have TWO FUCKING SPIN-OFFS that run in HD and use those models. Pic related.
But look, I don't blame you for thinking they were worse on the 3DS than they actually were. 240p is like putting a filter of shit over something that high poly. Even worse with the black outlines. Hell, I thought they were dogshit at first, it took someone showing them to me in HD before I saw them for what they really were.
>I think the real judge of gen8s quality will be future pokemon releases on the switch. They've had three gens to get their act together just for the switch to 3D, it feels kinda hopeless at this point. But I'd love it if you were right.
>>45245709>Nintendo is probably the one giving them their budget. At first glance it seems logical to blame Nintendo. They're the publisher, after all. But I don't think Nintendo is responsible for Pokemon's budget, or its schedule for that matter. Look at every other franchise under their belt, they're willing to put in the time and effort to make it work. To not just make it work, but to actually POLISH it. Even games like Wind Waker with infamously cut content or rushed games like Mario Sunshine still came out as great games that looked amazing for their time. Pokemon games might be under the Nintendo brand, but they don't have Nintendo's mark of quality, and that's where I see a discrepancy. I 100% believe Nintendo would make sure this shit is good if they had that kind of influence over GF. They'd probably also make them shake up the gameplay every now and then, too. And I mean REALLY shake up, drastic changes, etc.
