His style is ugly and has a really big problem (bigger than the anime) of sameface syndrome, have you seen the dexholders as 7-8 years old in his flashbacks? They have the same, hair style, clothes, shoes and expressions, basically the basic the design but as midgets.
Not even the anime is this bad, at least the chatacters look like a younger version of themselves and not midgets.
