My favorite Pokemon settled on Empoleon the moment I saw him.
First of all, my favorite animals are penguins. This was an instant attention grabber and to add to it, he was the water starter for Generation 4. Gen 4 was one of my favorite sets of games, tied with Gen 2 and 6 currently as he holds a special place in my roster.
His unique Water/Steel typing makes him REALLY cool considering he's able to tank most of the world even with the buff to dark and ghost types and he is a very good abuser of Assault vest while having the highest special attack amongst his fellow starters.
Sure he isn't speedy, and he really doesn't like fighting or ground type attacks, but Empoleon's strengths more than outweigh his weaknesses. Empoleon isn't just a great pokemon, he's my favorite. I've always found useful ways to use him on my teams and I will always do so, here is hoping his eventual mega-form will be fucking stellar.
I just hope Gamefreak will EVENTUALLY give him Roost or Slack-off...
