Game Freak should have noticed the issue of a growing Pokedex and workload YEARS ago. By the 3rd or 4th gen they should've noticed that the Pokedex was growing, and they should be careful. Their whole business model has revolved around each new gen having new Pokemon, they should've figured out how to
>Make less Pokemon per gen
>Make what new Pokemon there are distinct and meaningful, both design and mechanically wise
>Make it so there's far more appeal to a new Pokemon generation than just new Pokemon, so that if there was ever a time they had to release a new games without any new Pokemon, it could be done
Instead Game Freak ignored everything, got greedy and fucking sped it up, making it even worse when they started doing 2 gens per console generation, which should've never happened. Gen V also had a huge pokedex with a lot of similar Pokemon to older ones (Not calling Gen 5 bad, just decisions made with it by Gamefreak bad). Now the wolves are at the door, and instead of accepting responsibility, Gamefreak is just punishing players by being lazy and "haha, I don't know!"
The best part is literally any other developer would've solved this issue over a decade ago, but not Gamefreak! Small indie dev!
