The fans do nothing but shit on this IP now to the point where even I think most people on normalfag social media were overly-harsh in their criticisms of SV. Most of us are nothing like Disney adults aside from the legitimate autismos who actually do participate in Pokémon as a "lifestyle brand."
On a side note, I will admit that Disney adults are cringe, but at the same time it can be hard for people in relationships to find something to mutually enjoy together. If my gf cared about Pokémon then I would probably be more into it as well. Try to cut people some slack.
