Well, that was a disaster and a half, and the price I pay for having my team lag slightly behind in levels.
I got through everywhere up to Castelia easily enough. Burgh was a bit of a nuisance, but my Darumaka made short enough work of him. It was when I was facing Cheren on Route 4 that tragedy struck again - Dualshock was left in while taking out Pignite, and got hit by his Liepard's Pursuit on the switch.
Then, perhaps overeager for new additions, I went to Route 16...and my team was brutally savaged by a policeman's Herdier. A failed and foolish attempt to get Baku to sleep it with Hypnosis - why I didn't use Yawn, I'll never know - ended up with him being on the receiving end of a +1 Crunch - being behind in levels did him no favours - and although Dixie fared better in halving its health with Fire Fang, she was one-shot by a +2 Take Down. Only G.I. with Retaliate saved my team from further harm.
Half my team, hence, is comprised of fresh catches, and natures have been kinder to me. Even Timid for Sandile isn't too back since Speed is her second-best stat. Still haven't been to Relic Castle, getting a Yamask may be helpful at some point in the future.
But yeah, heavy losses...and considerable grinding is in order.
