Pokémon may be making the most money it's ever been, but its SOUL is absolutely dead right now. It's sold itself out, now it's not about making good games, it's not about the creative ideas, it's not about giving joy to players. Game Freak and TPC have figured out that they can just use Gen 1 to hook in the largest demographics possible in order to get the most sales, while spending the least possible time and money doing so and it won't matter because they'll still eat it up because it's Pokemon and OMG muh childhood. It's all about the money. That's why there's been so much Gen 1 pandering, because that's what sells. This has been totally and utterly proved with Let's Go. Pokemon is now nothing but a shell, a money-making machine coasting along on nostalgia.
To watch it die in spirit right before my eyes is honestly breaking my heart. I don't care if people call me a faggot or a stupid incel or whatever. I can't lie. I've been here since the beginning. I've enjoyed every game up until Gen 7. Now I'm not sure if I'll even buy Gen 8. When I was ten, I thought I would be a Pokemon fan forever, that I could never give it up. Now that I'm almost thirty, I'm finally realizing that nothing lasts forever and something you love after a long time will eventually become creatively bankrupt and lose its soul to consumerism.
