The free Sync Pair you unlock by progressing the event is... you. The other you. Whatever gender you made your MC, you design a new one of the opposite gender, and after you obtain them you're then allowed to use a second MC Sync Pair at once in battles, with the second using your MC 2. During the story, lots of trainers making jokes about how the new strong trainer who showed up reminds them alot of you and such.
