>>13926676True, but he is a cool guy. He's also well known, so I figured someone might recognize his name.

>>13926671Alright so, every artist has different intentions. I think that while my request doesn't necessarily appeal to certain kinds of artists, given that it's not something they can 'run with'; others, such as those looking to improve linework or draw something with some more specification than, say, "A doing B", might find that sort of request appealing. It's not something that's just getting stowed away in someone's /vp/ folder, it's something that will be displayed and seen by as many as 1000 viewers, as my stories tend to rake in. It's a bit more pressure, a bit more challenging. I like the artist to be aware of that. I expect them to have a little commitment to the idea I present them with. I don't expect every artist to like the request, I expect one or two to like it. The truth is that it's not even a terribly specific request, just more specific than most, and while making it more exclusive, tends to draw the types of artists I enjoy working with.
While I understand the merit of commissioning someone for an idea like that:
1. I don't have money to spend on this, as I do it as a free enterprise and, like the artists I seek for these requests, I do this because I enjoy it. I don't ask artists to do anything they don't enjoy; I want them to like my idea going in, so I give them everything I want about it up front and don't ask anything else past that.
2.I vastly prefer to give relatively unknown artists a bit of recognition. It may not be the most glamorous medium in some people's opinion, but it's certainly a chance to put their work out there and gain a few followers. Plus they're generally nicer, more interesting people to work with, something I value a lot.
So yeah, that's my spiel. Hope it makes sense.
