What if we made him have a side about trying to make every pokemon viable? He'd be the kind of guy who finds a way to use Pachirisu in high-tier shit, like it happened that one time.
I feel like that would make him less of a stick in the mud and a bit more fun. Sure, he EV trains and is completely fucking pragmatic when it comes to looking at things, but he looks at EVERYTHING with a sort of "I can make this shit work. But you're gonna pull your weight, faggot." mentality.
I can kinda picture him making all of Vanille's karen-tier teams optimized as fuck so they can double battle in some tournaments and shit. Maybe that's why they're so close?
