Mantine and Skarmory were introduced in Generation 2 as counterparts. Skarmory has 80 attack and 140 defense while Mantine had 80 sp. attack and 140 sp. defense. Game Freak decided that Skarmory did not need a pre-vo but Mantine for some reason did, possibly just to introduce a new evolution gimmick. Skarmory and Mantine were no longer counterparts after Gen 4, and Mantine recieved a 20 HP boost in Gen 7, further seperating the two.
Why was Skarmory cucked so hard and why did Mantine get so much shit it didn't need?
