I mean, that's one of the reasons why Pokemon's been in such a poor state these last few years. You can count the different mechanics on one hand. For example, we have several dozen Pokemon in Standard alone with a variation of
>count energies, +20 damage for eachand half the cards in the last few sets have been direct copies of cards that just rotated out, with slight edits. People lose interest in the game when half the cards are mechanically identical.
Pokemon would be a much better card game if "filler card" meant things like that Klefki, rather than the reality of pic related.
