Other PvP games and even PvE games would kill for that kind of simplicity and lack of grind, take MH for example, even with World and Rise giving you the ability to buy rare parts you still have to unlock the ability to buy the parts and then grind more on top of it. It's so much longer than pokemon but despite how simple the game is, hell even before the breeding and egg move changes pokemon was one of the most simplistic monster tamers, you still want to cheat.
You may as well just admit you don't like pokemon because nowadays all the game wants you to do is play normally.
