I would honestly have preferred Ash lose to her and get top 32 rather than the whole 'Squirtle is sleeping, it's fainted' and Charizard being a dick bullshit with Ritchie.
Jeanette was a more competent trainer than Ritchie will ever be. If she can get a Belsprout to be an unstoppable killing machine, then she could do just about anything.
