Like a fan, or static TV, it's meant to emulate irl noises like the wind breeze or sea.White noise from an air conditioning unit is my all time favorite by a very large margin. There's something so fucking comfy about how soft and delicate it sounds; like an ocean of pillows in audio form. As a kid, I could never sleep properly unless the AC was on, even if it was only set to "fan mode".
