>>13421990Every single fossil pokemon is a Rock type. People think there are to possibilites:
1. Back in time, every/most Pokemon was/were part Rock type. Since Relicanth, a prehistoric pokemon which isn't revived is also part rock, this theory might be true. On the other hand, most legendaries (some of them probably existed back then) aren't part rock. Take Mew, the "first" pokemon, as an example.
2. Fossil Pokemon are part Rock because the reincarnation process isn't able to fully revive them. Since they were fossils before, it may be possible that they get a rock type afterwards. Kabutops for example, could have been water/bug in the past, but after reincarnation it's water/rock. Omastar could have been water/poison, aerodactyl flying/normal or even flying"dragon.
