Hoenn have much more involved dungeons, a more criss-crossing roads, and a more natural and cohesive world.
At the same time, surfing routes have always been Pokemon's weakest point, and Hoenn is chock full of em. Hoenn also has a lot of "sorry you spent a few minutes going this way; cant advance anymore, so turn around fuckboy"
Between the two, I say I enjoy high peaks/low valleys than the middle ground that Sinnoh is, but it can go either.
