In the Wizarding World (Harry Potter) they have this thing called your 'passport'. When you complete this 'passport' it gives you your stats for the Wizarding World universe. This passport is increasingly used in the franchise, allowing you to connect it to new game releases so your wand and house from the passport is reflected in the game.
Pokemon needs one of those. You pick your 6 main Pokemon, your trainer type, your trainer name, etc. Then, whenever you start a new game, the earliest evolution of those 6 Pokemon are catchable in the game from an early point so you can raise them.
