http://www.smogon.com/forums/forums/xy-ou-teams.261/Look at teams you think you might like, read the reasoning behind certain choices and how they play, read comments on it to see whether it's actually good or not, and use that until you get your bearings. Switch things out, change moves where you feel it's necessary, and adapt it to your playstyle. Don't get used to copying teams and try to learn to teambuild yourself, but don't feel bad about using a well-explained team until you understand the metagame.
