I've found myself liking the games less and less over the years. At first i was hyped for gen 6. X/Y was a fun first playthrough, even if the latter half was a little rushed, and the free megas made it a little easy. And i was all over ORAS when it came out because gen 3 was my time and emerald was my second game.
Then, sun and moon was being teased and i saw the cover legendaries and i just thought "i don't like either of these". I got a friend to lend me sun, but i never got past the second island because i got bored. And i didn't even know USUM were a thing for some time. Now i struggle to play through the old games without getting bored.
Now i've just retreated into my other hobby of tabletop. Shitposting here gives me my pokemon fix, but for actually filling the day I write games (currently working on a dbz system now). It's a shame, really. Pokemon is a perfect concept yet the people in charge don't care. It's obvious why, but I'm never going to let myself lapse into reluctant complacency. I quit mtg for the same reason.
Think about it this way, anon. The games are pretty bad now, maybe you were never into the anime, and the tcg is an undeniable shitshow. But it doesn't stop you from still loving pokemon. I'll think up autistic headcanon, discuss designs, and post waifus all i want. I still love pokemon, i still love *my* pokemon. The first squirtle i ever picked up in FRLG. The Marowak who carried my Pokemon X nuzlocke. The full harem team in my last AS playthrough.
To invoke the ancient wisdom.
