I don't think I've hit a wall like I did with Norman in Pokemon since I was actually six playing this game. In desperation I took my tiny little undertrained Aron called Pearl and stuck her at the top of the team, thinking maybe the Rock/Steel combo would let her tank the hits. I set up on Spinda by putting her on a Super Potion drip while I spammed Iron Defense, then avoided Slaking's counter by only attacking every alternate turn.
I couldn't believe it when I beat his whole team with one tiny level 24 Aron.
