>>41187424>physical ClaydolI jest. Well, sort of. With the exact same typing and stat total as Golurk, one might think these two an applicable comparison. And while they share some moves, Golurk is much more aligned as an all-out physical attacker rather than bulky support. Perhaps Palossand, with similar physical bulk, is a more apt comparison, but I'll leave this aside for now since it ain't in Galar. That leaves Claydol as the closest comparison. And they have a lot in common. Both Claydol and Runerigus share most of the same weaknesses and resistances, with Runerigus carrying a slight lead with its resistance to common U-Turn and immunity to disrupting Fake Out over Claydol's Ground immunity. They also share a broad selection of support moves, the most significant of which is Trick Room, which makes Runerigus only the second Ground Pokemon to do so. Finally - options!
Let's compare stats:
Runerigus: 58.95.145.50.105.30 (BST: 483)
Claydol: 60.70.105.70.120.75 (BST: 500)
Its more physically defensive than Claydol, with less points poured into Speed and more into Defense and Attack. For a plausible Trick Room setter this is ideal, and other than missing the incredible new Teleport, is solidly a better option for this role.
