The team was made like that though to be used in game with no type overlap, irl you probably wouldn't use your pokemon to fly. I don't think Ash ever actually has (at least not for extended periods of time). Plus, like other anons said, it does ruin the adventure aspect a bit. irl, Pikachu would probably be able to fly but I wouldn't fly on it.
