Shisa statues also have curly hair, and thus so does Hisui Growlithe. I don't know if both Shisa and Buddha statues have curly hair for the same reason, as some kind of buddhist motif, or if it's just a coincidence, but it could be that the Growlithe and Meditite lines are being made to share design elements to reference their shared source of inspiration.
