You grit your teeth, this does look like a bad situation. One you might not be able to get out of alive, you should have listened to Sycamore when he off-handily mentioned Flare prior to you entering Lumiose, some time after leaving Route 4.
The name Flare suggests flames, fire, incineration, that sort of thing. That implies that they use Fire-types, this could be Froakie's biggest test yet. Although he's quite a strong player, he's still your only Pokemon, and if he can't hold his own against whatever Pokemon they may have in store for you, it might just be all over for you altogether.
