>>50153546>DP are still good games at their coreNow THIS is something I'd vehemently disagree with.
I grew up with Diamond and Pearl (not my first games, those were LG and E in Gen 3) and had very fond memories of them. A couple of years ago I decided to go on a nostalgia trip and set out to replay the games since I wanted to see if they held up at all.
And well, no, DP did not hold up.
The games did not merely age like milk, it was so awful that it made me question why the fuck I ever liked it in the first place. My brother grew up with them too but unlike me he never bothered to finish it, he didn't even beat the third gym leader before he shelved it and he told me later that he stopped playing the game because "it was too slow and not very fun, and the region just felt very bland". Honestly? I agree with him now. Sinnoh is fucking atrocious. The region has no identity, nothing geographically that sticks out or makes it feel special. It's just boring as fuck. And the game is agonizingly slow, not only were slowdowns frequent on this sack of shit, but battles took ages to finish and I could make a sandwich in the time it takes for HP bars to deplete. And the game is also extremely slow-paced, it takes a long ass time to get anywhere even on a bike and the game's numerous route "gimmicks" are just various ways to slow you down even more (fog, mud and snow pits, blinding blizzards and darkness, etc).
Gym Leaders, Evil Teams, even the regional dex it's all just shit. So many Pokemon from here look awful, I didn't want to use any of them. The Underground was garbage, and the post game was mediocre at best.
>PlatinumI didn't feel like selling my liver to buy it so I got a ROM to emulate it; Platinum does not fix any of the base issues besides the literal single fire type in the region now having a couple of other fire-type buddies. It's the same piece of shit but painted with chrome.
The games are bad.
And evidently BD/SP only made them even worse, somehow.
