There are more aspects of the game that deal with this subject when you think about it. Geera's a pushover despite being orienting all focus on battling and being the champion before the MC, and created friction with some of the characters. She failed because she didn't understand what makes the idea of a champion and strong character, despite all the authority she has. On the other side of the coin, you have the gym leaders who have gym battles as their obligation despite having a lot going on outside their lives. One way or another, however, they make their lives work. There have been discussions on this board about how this is meta commentary about the culture of work at GF, but it fits with the theme of finding fulfillment in whatever means you have and recognizing what they offer.
It's somewhat poetic that such a simple yet helpful message is hidden behind all the tangled details and chaff. In a sense, it's fitting. Despite having a broken, shitty, sanitized game to work with, someone at the company did their best to tell this to people. Plenty of allusions to more hush subjects were made as well, so it's someone who's paying attention at least. Maybe he or she is trying to get us to really think about what we're trying to get fulfillment out of ourselves, and open our eyes to other means of achieving that. The game has its limits, but fortunately for us, we have other options as well.
