In one of the new areas there's a double battle where the trainers are using shit like Alolan Muk, Primarina, etc that Ypres went down to. In Flannery's gym, you have trainers using mons with tons of coverage + strategies, such as Moody Protect Octillery (??), Grass Knot Infernape, and a fucking Toxic Orb Facade Guts Flareon which took down Istanbul.
In comparison, Flannery was a joke. As a formality, her team - Torkoal, Houndoom, Volcarona, Blaziken, Talonflame, Arcanine. Torkoal sets sun and sets rocks as my new member Nairobi goes for Shell Smash which is boosted to insane levels by Simple, set up Amnesia and Iron Defense to not get revenged by Houndoom's Sucker Punch/Talonflame's Brave Bird, then obliterate her team with Power Gem.
This hack also adds an optional battle against Frontier Brain Lucy in Lavaridge Town. Thanks to some strats, she's also pretty easy. Again as a formality - Shuckle, Steelix, Milotic, Serperior, Gyarados, Seviper. Shuckle has a Red Card, so I lead Dallas and use Embargo. The Shuckle hits me with Infestation to activate my Eject Button, and I swap in Nairobi. Cue two Shell Smashes and a sweep, reteaching Nairobi Earth Power for Steelix, love when Magcargo is utterly broken. She gives a Choice Band on defeat.
