Penny reminds me a lot of myself. In person she can be very shy, anti-social and withdrawn. And when forced to interact with others, she can even be somewhat abrasive. She also fits the whole nerdy/gamer/weeb girl thing that I happen to be really into.
Before you wonder to yourself, "Who could possibly be legitimately into that" remember that you are on the internet, and that many people are into many different things. Some of these things may seem absurd or ridiculous, but the like for them is genuine.
