For as much of a power creep as they were, Groudon and Kyogre could at least still more or less pass for ancient being powerful enough to have devastating effect on their surrounds and be regarded as local deities. But getting into the abstract of time and space and then further pushing it towards literal creationism was just a new height. Over time it's settled in better as a part of the franchise, largely thanks to its lore being expanded a little, restraint in hitting such ridiculous legendary feats again, and fans sort of supplementing a bit of their own headcanons while expanding their frame of mine for theology within the universe. But the legacy of "Pokemon Jesus" jokes will always still be there.
