Scaled down version of a typical fantasy realm, divided into a Fire region, Ice/Water region, Earth region (rock) and Wind region (flying). Trainers will have monotype teams based on the region they're in, and you need to collect the 4 keys from each area to unlock the gym battle. Gym leader is inside of a big castle obviously.

Uses Heal Bell (and heal pulse in double battles) while buffing with screens.
Mismagius: Warlock/Wizard/Black Mage
Can use an array of elemental attacks while crippling with will-o-wisp
Zoroark: Rogue/Ninja/Thief
Fast physical attacker with knock off support vs walls
Decidueye: Ranger/Archer/Scout
Defog/U-turn support with trapping capabilities and strong Leaf Storms
