Long answer: Technology, science, economics and philosophy and the world itself has been increasing exponentially in the era of information. This was seen as a blessing to our ancestors, but the overload of it has made it impossible for one to truly comprehend. Conservatives by definition cling onto the older ideas of family, tradition and culture. However, this wave of endless information rams head first into all of those concepts and puts them immediately into question. Questions that not even their proponents can fully grasp themselves. Seemingly simple things like gender are extremely complex in the field of science now. Knowledge over fields like virology require degrees to understand even just the basics of it. Your average Boomer in Kentucky struggles to open a PDF. Nevermind understanding Macroeconomics or Geopolitics .
