>>53887840>GameplayA key thing to note is that the game is mainly about catching Pokemon, rather than battling. There are boss fights, but only a few of them are actual trainers and most of them are at the end of plot segments. Because of this focus on catching, battles now take place in the overworld. It feels pretty natural just throwing your Pokeball at a wild mon and battling them. You can even catch Pokemon without initiating battle. It gives the game a very fresh feeling, so if you've been sick of the standard Pokemon formula you might want to check it out.
The game isn't open world but it gives you more freedom than other games. You unlock different areas as you progress. The game rarely forces you to do certain things/go to specific areas, so you can mostly do whatever you want at your own pace.
>Difficulty Nothing absurd for a pokemon game but not completely brain-dead like certain entries in the series. There were two boss fights I actually had trouble with, although I was also playing with some self imposed rules. Most of my deaths actually came from falling off cliffs like a moron.
>GraphicsBad. I mean, not enough to really tarnish your experience too much but they don't do an otherwise pretty immersive game much justice. Character/Pokemon models look ok. The battle animations are cool I guess
>StoryIt's a Pokemon game, so it's nothing revolutionary. The characters are charming and I ended up liking most of them, and there were actually some points in the story that caught me off guard. My main takeaway was that God is a dick.
I've done two playthroughs of the game and had a lot of fun. They're not perfect games but they're worth giving a shot.
